David Ramshaw

Born in 1946, David spent his early years in London’s East End before a family move to the Kent countryside. A natural drawing ability led to training as a draughtsman and subsequently a career as a Structural Engineer.

During this period David naturally devoted most of his energies to the design of buildings with his interest in creative art playing second fiddle. His artistic passion, however, eventually won the day and now David specialises in painting pictures with a strong architectural content and a discipline for accuracy built up over a lifetime in the drawing office.

Largely self-taught, David’s work in watercolours demonstrates not only an appreciation of buildings within their environment but an ability to be creative and individual in their presentation. His distinctive style is instantly recognisable and, while accurate, David enjoys taking liberties with line and level to reflect the individual character of the buildings as he sees them.
